ASE test anyone?

I was looking into being a certified mechanic and I know to do that a individual would have to take the ASE test. Anyone here ever take the test? If so is the test hard? I know its actually like 9 tests and there like $28 dollars apiece where I live, and they only have the tests twice in a year.

Basically, I had to do a 13 month course, do ojt. Then got certified. My test was free. I can't imagine you can just get certified with no prior knowledge. I believe you need at least a bachelors in automotive technology.
