Site Rules & Info

When participating on SupportForums.net, you agree to:

Be respectful and constructive
Avoid posting spam, advertisements, or self-promotions
Not harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Not post content that is illegal, offensive, or violates the rights of others
Follow any specific rules set by moderators or administrators
To not have multiple accounts or attempt.

We reserve the right to remove content or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.

User Accounts & Profiles

Profile

Users are welcome to customise their profiles, and can do so by clicking their name on the top right of the page when logged in. Your avatar, profile banner and bio can be changed from your profile page.

Settings

You can change your account settings, notification preferences and default site behaviour from the settings page of your profile.

Account Security

We recommend that all users enable two-factor authentication to secure their account. 2FA settings can be managed via the security section of your profile page.

If you lose access, 2FA settings can be reset by starting the account recovery process. You can begin account recovery here.

Ignoring users

You can ignore users via the “Ignored Users” section of your user profile. You can also click an individual's profile and press “Ignore” under the controls dropdown. If you ignore a user, they will not be able to private message you, and you will not see their discussions or posts.

Community Team

The community team are volunteers that manage the community and assist members with site and account related questions and issues.

If you need site/account related support:

Private message the @community team or an individual member of the community team.
Post a discussion using the “site help” tag (site help).

Please note only an administrator can help with 2FA related issues.

Flagging Posts

Please use the “Flag” feature if you see any discussions that break our community rules and a member of the community team will investigate. Clicking the three dots at the bottom of a post “…” will reveal the “Flag” button.

Tags explained

For those familiar with traditional forum categories or sections, tags are essentially the same functionality. Tags categorise discussions and allow quick navigation and filtering of the site discussion.

Best answer system

Some tags change the discussion format to a question. When you ask questions or for advice you can mark responses from members as the best answer. For certain tags you may also receive reminders to select the best answer. Best answers can also be changed at a later date.

Best answers help other users find quick answers to a question and refer to them later.

Private Discussion

You can message users and groups privately through the private discussion system. These discussions are private between members, but for security and safeguarding they can be viewed by the community team. Access private discussions here.

Awards & Badges

Users can earn badges and awards for engaging with the community, winning competitions, donating or by receiving an award from a member of the community team. They can also be removed. View badge details here.

Community Groups

At the discretion of the Administrator, members can receive their own private groups for private discussion between their own members. These groups are self managed, and are a good way to form smaller communities around more sensitive or specific topics. Learn more about groups here.

Warnings, Sanctions & Suspensions

If you violate our community guidelines, depending on severity you may receive certain account sanctions. These range from warnings, to not being able to post or message other members, and in some cases suspension.

Sanctions & suspensions can be temporary, lengthy, or permanent. Permanently suspended members will have all other accounts closed.
