hey folks, so i’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately. like seriously, my mind’s been ticking over in ways i didn’t think possible. I’ve been learning about things i never knew existed growing up. take gender fluidity, for instance. it’s all quite new to me, i admit. but i’m trying to understand it better, not to be a better ally or anything - that comes naturally with understanding more about the world around us, right?
anyway, i was chatting with a friend and they’d mentioned how their identity fluctuates. some days they feel very masculine, other times ultra-feminine and then there are days they just, well, they just feel. it’s not linked with their mood, apparently, it’s just the way they feel deep inside themselves at a particular time and it can shift from week-to-week, day-to-day or even moment-to-moment. like, wow.
my question is, how does that work? like, how does one know in which part of the gender spectrum they fit in? do they wake up and simply know? is it influenced by something or a reaction to external stimuli? i wanna get a better grasp on this because knowing is understanding. and understanding is respecting, right?
if anyone can shed light on this, maybe some of you who are gender fluid yourselves or who have friends in the community, share your experiences. i’d love to hear how you navigate or 🤔
