Your Dell uses RDRAM PC 600 or PC 800 and must be replaced in pairs or sets. Rambus is very expensive and somewhat hard to find without getting ripped off.
This type of Ram is superior to it's successors IMHO and I have done things on my PC that one running the same amount of Ram could not handle.
My Dell is the 8100 series and can take up to 2GB of Ram and other than replacing the CPU fan it has never failed me and runs like a top
