I have 2 kids right now but, I don't do that unless they do something that can get them into trouble. I just don't want them to grow up and be like me. I want them to grow up with a good education.

Definitely no against spanking, unless it is a last resort. Anything along the lines of the holding signs on the highway type things seems as though it would be very effective.

I got the crap beat out of me as a kid. Bad father what can i say. Did it make me bad? Dunno i have not killed anyone yet so im not that bad.
I have 5 kids. 4 with me now. Do i spank them? HELL YES. They get out of line then they get a smack on the ass.

I think this is totally acceptable to spank your kid. It shows them who is the leader in the house and your not getting away with anything.

I don't think it should be a last resort. If your parents want the beat the living hell out of your ass, they should be able to. They shouldn't be able to punch you in the face, etc, but it's your ass, I mean come on. The pain would go away in 5 minutes.

I do have to say though, you shouldn't over do it. My cousin (who we've recently had a falling out with) over spanks her children. (She's a welfare whore)

What spanking does do is teach respect. An important lesson for someone to learn.
Look at most kids these days. Out of control. Why? You tell me.

Very good point. Abuse is the real issue here yet has been largely ignored.
Spanking by definition however is that. Not really hurting the children rather disciplining them.
If they feel the smack 2 min after you did it then it was too hard.
Fact is i feel emotional abuse is far far more prevalent and needs to be addressed also.
