That's if you don't have mental self control however, which should be developed to become a better human being I think self pitty is brought on by yourself. Not by whatever you think causes it because people tend to blame everything else but themselves to feel better. On top of that blame is a solution or instinct for people to resort to whenever a problem happens which is another flaw in default human nature because it doesn't solve anything but provoke negative thoughts
