It's worth it. Just back up all your data before doing it, just incase you want to go back. If you like it, keep it. If you hate it, you can always restore your iPod and start over from where you were before you did the jailbreak.

If I am correct, jail-breaking does void the warranty. I don't have an iPod/iPhone, but I don't think I would jailbreak if I had one.

Well because of the recent ruling on jailbreaking, it doesn't always void the warranty. it depends on the circumstances. And I waited until my 1 year warranty was up anyways.
