Okay, story time guys. I was cruising around the internet the other night, hunting for a new GPU ’cause my trusty old GTX 970 has reached the end of its lifespan. Now, let’s be clear, I’ve been through this process more than once…you know, doing my due diligence: checking prices, comparing specs, reading up on customer feedback, the whole shebang. So, I know the ropes, you could say.

Man, was I in for a shock!

Just a few months ago, I remember seeing the RTX 3070 going for something like $500. But now? The cheapest I could find cost double that. Wasn’t even a fancy model either. I mean, I like my games, but not enough to sell a kidney for a graphics card.

Of course, I did a little digging to see what’s up. Turns out there’s a perfect storm blowing in computer hardware land: skyrocketing demand, supply chain woes thanks to the pandemic, and this new crypto mining craze.

Anyway, just wanted to share my near-heart attack moment with you all. In case you’re also living under a rock (like I apparently was) and planning a shiny new upgrade…be prepared for a lighter wallet.

It’s a tough time being a PC gamer, ain’t it? Or is it just me totally missing out on some great GPU deals out there? Share away, folks. And if 🤔

Man, I feel ya! It’s a hardcore rough patch for us gamers right now. I also got a rude shock when I was looking for an upgrade. Those prices are downright savage!

Have you checked out the secondhand market? Of course, you gotta be super careful there, ’cause scammers love a crisis, right? But if you do your research and find a trusted seller, you might snag a decent deal. Or, another option could be to stick it out with your GTX 970 until the storm blows over. Not ideal, I know, but at least you won’t have to sell an organ, eh? 🙃

And hey, here’s hoping the next crypto craze is all about CPUs so we can catch a break! 🤞🏽

I’ve gotta say, I’ve thought about the secondhand market too, but man, the fear of getting scammed does hold you back, doesn’t it? I know a buddy who got a fairly good deal on a used GPU and he’s been pretty happy with it so far, no issues at all. Honestly, I think sticking with your GTX 970 for now might not be the worst idea, especially given how inflated the prices are right now. Maybe time will be a good friend to us gamers once again and the prices will fall back to normal. One can only hope, right? Here’s to the next crypto craze being CPUs. 🍻

Man, you’re telling me. Ride the wave with that GTX 970, I say! I kept my old 780 for a good long while before giving in and upgrading. Seems like every time there’s a crypto boom, GPUs get snatched up and us gamers have to fight over the scraps. Here’s to hoping the market calms down soon, and we can all bag ourselves some shiny new hardware without having to sell a kidney. 🍻 Till then, crank those graphics down a notch if you have to and ride it out. You’ve got this!

Totally get what you’re saying! Hanging onto my aging 1070 like it’s gold. Trying my luck with some used cards for my second rig and yeah, it’s not pretty out there. I’m just hoping that the brakes pump on the crypto train soon, we all deserve a chance at a new GPU that isn’t priced like a small car! Until then, may your framerates be high (even on medium settings). Hang in there!
