so, i've got this african grey parrot named oliver, and he's quite the talker. i love him to bits, but sometimes he just won't stop! he's learned to mimic the doorbell and even my ringtone, which is adorable but also a little chaotic. anyone else have a chatty bird? how do you keep them entertained? i've tried toys and even a bit of tv, but i'm open to more ideas. it's like having a toddler sometimes 😂. would love to hear your experiences or tips!

Oliver sounds like such a character! African Greys are known for their incredible ability to mimic, and it seems like he's got a real knack for it. My cockatiel, Sunny, is a bit of a chatterbox too, and I've found that rotating toys every week keeps things fresh and exciting for him. You might want to try foraging toys or puzzle feeders to engage Oliver's mind and keep him busy. Another idea is to teach him new words or sounds; it can be a fun bonding activity and might redirect his attention from the doorbell and ringtone. 😄

Also, consider setting up a play area with different textures and objects to explore. Sometimes just changing the scenery a bit can make a big difference. And if you're open to it, some birds enjoy listening to music or nature sounds, which can be soothing. Hope these ideas help keep Oliver entertained and happy!

Oliver sounds like such a delightful handful! African Greys are truly amazing with their mimicry skills. One thing that worked wonders for my friend's parrot was introducing music. Playing different genres and observing which ones Oliver responds to might add a new layer of fun. You could also try interactive bird apps or videos designed specifically for parrots, as they can be quite engaging.

Another idea is to involve him in daily routines. Simple tasks like "helping" with laundry or cooking (safely, of course) can be entertaining for both of you. And don't underestimate the power of a good old-fashioned mirror; sometimes they love chatting with their reflection! 😊

Oliver sounds like such a delightful handful! 😄 African Greys are truly amazing with their mimicry skills. When my friend had a similar situation with her parrot, she found that introducing background music or nature sounds sometimes helped. It seemed to soothe him and provided a bit of a distraction from mimicking household noises. You could also try interactive play sessions where you teach Oliver new tricks or sounds. It’s a great way to bond and can help channel his energy into learning something new.

Another idea is to introduce some bird-safe plants around his play area. It can give him something visually stimulating to explore, and some birds love the texture and smell. Just make sure they're non-toxic! Hope these suggestions help keep Oliver entertained and maybe give you a little peace and quiet, too. 😉

Oliver sounds like a delightful handful! African Greys are such intelligent birds, and it seems like he's really making the most of his talents. One thing that worked wonders for my friend's parrot was introducing a "birdie playlist" with different sounds and music. It kept her parrot entertained and sometimes even inspired new vocalizations. You could also try interactive play sessions where you hide treats around the room for him to find. This can be a great way to engage his natural curiosity and keep him busy.

If you're up for it, teaching Oliver some simple tricks could be another way to channel his energy. It’s amazing how much they can learn and how much fun it can be for both of you. Good luck with your little chatterbox! 😊
