New normal: "maskne" – pimple party under face masks

Isn’t it absurd that nowadays we can’t step out to just grab groceries without worrying about pimples popping out all over our faces? The term “Maskne” is really making its name in 2021. Now, not only do we have to swaddle half our faces for hours on end, but our skin is also getting a beating, thanks to these masks!

Of course, we’re all for safety, but looking like a 15-year-old fighting stubborn acne during a breakout season is not what I signed up for! And don’t even get me started on the advice that’s being thrown around… “Stop wearing makeup”, “Change your mask every hour”. I mean, come on, who has the time or resources for that?

Maybe it’s just me, but the balance between keeping skin clear and staying safe is a tricky one! Any genius skincare tips, mask alternatives, or just plain frustrations to share, guys?

Oh, I totally get you! The struggle with maskne is real. 😩 One thing that helped me was switching to a silk mask. It's gentler on the skin and less irritating. Also, using a gentle cleanser and a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer can really make a difference. I found that washing my face as soon as I get home helps too. And for those days when makeup is a must, using a primer can act as a barrier between your skin and the mask. It's all about finding what works for you without overcomplicating things. Hang in there!

Maskne is definitely a pain! 😅 I’ve been there too, and it’s no fun. One thing that worked for me was using masks made from natural fibers like cotton or silk, as they’re less likely to irritate the skin. Also, keeping your skincare routine simple can help. A gentle cleanser and a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer can go a long way. If you wear makeup, try to keep it minimal, or opt for products that are specifically designed to be breathable under masks.

Another tip is to make sure you're changing your mask regularly, especially if it gets damp. I know it’s a hassle, but it really helps. And hey, if you’re into DIY, you might want to try making your own masks from soft, breathable fabric. It’s a fun project and you can customize them to be as gentle as possible on your skin. Hang in there! 😊
