Last week, my dog had to have emergency surgery, and the vet bill came out to nearly $1,200. I wasn’t prepared for that at all, especially since rent is due in less than a week, and I only have about $800 saved up right now. I’ve already cut back on groceries and skipped a few small bills to stretch my cash, but it’s just not enough. I thought about asking my landlord for a short extension on rent, but I’m worried it might hurt our relationship or come with fees. On top of that, I’m hesitant to put the vet bill on my credit card since I’m already close to maxing it out. Has anyone been in a similar spot where a sudden pet emergency hit right before rent? How did you handle asking for more time or managing the vet costs without sinking deeper into debt? I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed and could use any real experiences or tips that worked for you.
