Mini Indoor Herb Garden That Survived My Cat’s Curiosity and My Forgetfulness

I recently decided to start a small indoor herb garden on my kitchen windowsill - mainly basil, thyme, and mint. The windowsill is only about 24 inches wide, and I wanted to keep the plants in cute ceramic pots that fit but also look nice. My cat, who loves to knock things over, has already taken down a couple of pots, so I switched to heavier ones and even placed a small tray underneath to catch any soil spills. The tricky part is remembering to water them regularly - I’ve tried setting reminders on my phone, but somehow I still miss a day or two and then the leaves start to droop. I’m aiming for a low-maintenance setup that I can actually keep alive and use for cooking, but so far, it feels like a balancing act between the cat’s antics and my forgetfulness. Has anyone found a good way to cat-proof their indoor plants without making the setup look like a fortress? Also, what are your favorite herbs that survive well with minimal watering? I’m open to swapping out or adding new ones if they’re more forgiving.
