I recently tried to save on electricity costs by installing a small DIY solar panel system on my garage roof. The panels are rated for 300 watts each, and I have three of them connected in series. My house has an existing inverter that’s about five years old, meant for grid-tied solar setups. I wired the panels to the inverter input, but the inverter keeps throwing error codes about voltage mismatch and won’t start producing power. I double-checked all the wiring, panel orientation, and even tested panel voltages individually, which look fine. The inverter’s manual mentions specific voltage and current ranges, but my setup seems to be just slightly off. I want to avoid buying a new inverter if possible since this one was a decent investment. Has anyone dealt with an inverter refusing to sync with solar panels? Could minor tweaks in wiring or panel configuration solve this? Or is it usually necessary to match the inverter specs exactly? Any suggestions on troubleshooting or workarounds would be appreciated!
