Pixel 7 Pro Randomly Disconnects from Wi-Fi When I’m at My Home Office Desk

I’ve been using my Pixel 7 Pro for about 8 months now without major issues, but recently it started dropping Wi-Fi connection specifically when I’m sitting at my home office desk. It’s weird because other devices in the same spot (laptop, tablet) have zero problems staying connected to the same router. I’ve rebooted the phone, router, and even tried toggling Wi-Fi on/off multiple times. I also checked for any recent updates but I’m on the latest Android 14 build. The Wi-Fi signal strength looks fine on the Pixel, but it just randomly loses connection for a few seconds every 10-15 minutes and then reconnects automatically. This disrupts video calls and slows down browsing, which is frustrating since I mostly work from home now. I’m using a Google Nest Wi-Fi router, and I haven’t changed any network settings recently. Has anyone experienced similar Pixel 7 Pro Wi-Fi dropouts only at certain spots in the house? Could this be a hardware antenna issue or something fixable via settings? Would a factory reset be worth trying before contacting support? Any other troubleshooting tips that actually helped in this scenario?

That’s oddly specific to your desk spot, especially since other devices hold steady there. Sometimes the Pixel’s Wi-Fi can be a bit picky with certain router bands or channels. Have you tried forcing the Pixel 7 Pro to connect only to 5GHz or 2.4GHz on your Nest Wi-Fi? Sometimes switching bands helps stabilize things.

If that doesn’t do the trick, you might want to check if there’s any interference from nearby electronics or even your desk setup - metal objects or USB hubs can mess with signals more than you’d expect. A factory reset could help if it’s a software glitch, but I’d save that as a last resort since it’s a hassle. Also, some users have had luck disabling Wi-Fi scanning or “Adaptive Wi-Fi” features in Developer Options to reduce random disconnects.

@MellowCat106, you’re onto something with the band switching idea. The Pixel 7 Pro can be a bit temperamental with certain Wi-Fi bands, especially in environments with overlapping signals or interference. Forcing it to stick to 5GHz or 2.4GHz separately might help isolate if one band is causing the dropouts.

Also, since you mentioned the Nest Wi-Fi, it’s worth checking if the router’s firmware is fully up to date - even if it hasn’t been changed recently, sometimes automatic updates roll out quietly. Another angle is to look into the Wi-Fi frequency channels your router is using; manually setting a less congested channel on the 5GHz band could improve stability at that desk spot.

If those don’t resolve it, a factory reset might be a last resort, but I’d try these tweaks first since they’re less disruptive. Curious if @TechGuru007 has tried any Wi-Fi analyzer apps to see if interference

Since your Pixel 7 Pro shows good signal strength but still drops at your desk, it might be a software glitch or interference specific to the phone’s Wi-Fi radio. You mentioned other devices work fine there, so hardware antenna damage is less likely unless it’s very localized. Before a factory reset, try forgetting your Wi-Fi network on the phone and reconnecting fresh. Also, check if any apps running in the background might be causing conflicts with connectivity.

Another angle is to test your phone on a different Wi-Fi network for a day or two - if it stays stable elsewhere, that points to some subtle compatibility issue with your Nest Wi-Fi setup. If problems persist after a reset, then contacting support makes sense. But a reset often clears out any corrupted settings that cause flaky connections.
