My hours at the cafe where I work were cut by almost half last month, and it’s thrown my budget totally off. I’ve always been careful with my spending, but now I’m struggling to cover my regular bills and just bought groceries for the week. My credit card balance was already hovering around $2,000 from some unexpected vet bills earlier this year, and now it’s creeping up as I rely on it more. I’ve tried trimming every little expense I can think of - no streaming, cooking all my meals, even skipping my usual weekend coffee runs - but it’s not enough. I’m worried about how to keep the debt from snowballing and what to do if my hours stay low. Has anyone else been in this spot where your income suddenly drops but bills don’t? How did you manage your credit card debt without it feeling like a black hole? Would a debt consolidation loan make sense here, or should I focus on paying the minimums and waiting it out?
