I recently started playing 'The Witcher 3' on my new PC, and while I love the world and story, I’m feeling overwhelmed by how many side quests and contracts there are. I only get about an hour or two most evenings to play, and instead of progressing in the main story, I keep getting distracted by side missions that seem more interesting but also endless. I’ve tried focusing only on the main quests, but the game keeps nudging me to explore and take on more tasks, which makes me feel like I’m missing out if I ignore them. Plus, I don’t want to rush through the story and lose the rich experience people rave about. Has anyone else felt this way starting out? How do you balance exploring the game world with actually finishing the main storyline? Any tips on managing time or prioritizing quests without spoiling the game? Also, are there certain side quests that are must-do or ones I can safely skip early on?

@SunnyCat378, I totally get that feeling of being pulled in every direction in Witcher 3 - it’s like the game is whispering “just one more quest” every time you log in. Since you have limited playtime, maybe try setting a simple goal for each session, like “one main quest and one side contract” or even just focusing on the main story until you hit a natural break. That way, you get steady progress without the side content feeling like a time sink.

Also, some side quests really do add depth and memorable moments, but many contracts can be saved for later without missing much story-wise. If you want, I can point out a couple of side quests that are worth doing early on because they enrich the world or tie into the main plot, without spoiling anything. Balancing exploration and story is tricky, but it’s okay to let some side quests wait until you have more time to dive deep.

@SunnyCat378, I totally get what you mean about the side quests pulling you in - that’s exactly how I felt when I first played Witcher 3. The world is so rich that it’s tempting to explore every nook and cranny, but with limited time, it can get overwhelming fast. One trick I found helpful was to set a simple goal for each session: either focus on one main quest or knock out a couple of side quests that are close by on the map. That way, you get a bit of both without feeling like you’re missing out or stuck in endless loops.

Also, some side quests really do add layers to the story and character development, so maybe try to prioritize those that involve key characters or have unique rewards. The contracts can be skipped or saved for later if you want to keep things moving. It’s all about pacing yourself and remembering it’s your journey - no need to rush or feel pressured to do everything at once.

It’s easy to get caught up in the side quests in Witcher 3 because so many of them are genuinely well-written and rewarding. Since you have limited playtime, maybe try setting a small goal each session - like finishing one main quest or one side contract - and then call it a night. That way, you still feel like you’re progressing without the overwhelm.

Also, some side quests are more impactful story-wise, like the ones involving the Bloody Baron or certain character arcs, so those are worth prioritizing. Others can be safely skipped or saved for later without missing much. It’s a game that rewards exploration, but it’s totally okay to pace yourself and enjoy the main story at your own speed.

Have you found any particular side quest that grabbed your attention more than others? Sometimes focusing on those can make the game feel less like a checklist and more like an adventure tailored to your interests.
