I adopted a hedgehog about two months ago, and she’s been mostly comfortable with me handling her, especially when I scoop her up gently from her hideout. However, whenever I try to pet or clean her paws, she instantly hisses and curls up into a tight ball, making it impossible to check or trim her nails. I’ve tried approaching her paws slowly and offering treats beforehand, but she still reacts the same way. I want to make paw handling less stressful for her because her nails are getting a bit long, and I don’t want to cause her discomfort or accidentally hurt her. Has anyone had success with getting a hedgehog used to paw touching? What kind of tricks or routines helped your little spiky friend relax during nail care?
