Got an Email Claiming My Social Media Was Hacked, But It Came From My Own Account

Yesterday I received a weird email that looked like it was from my own social media account, saying it had been hacked and to click a link to secure it. The email address was identical to mine, which freaked me out a bit. I didn’t click the link but I’m not sure how someone could send an email that appears to come from my own address. I checked my account activity and nothing looked suspicious, and I’ve already changed my password just in case. I’m wondering if this could be some sort of spoofing or phishing tactic? Also, should I notify the platform’s support or just keep an eye on things? Has anyone else experienced their own email being 'used' to send fake alerts like this? What are the best steps to make sure my accounts stay safe after something like this?
