I’ve been really happy with my Pixel 7 Pro’s Night Sight mode for months - usually it nails sharp, vibrant low-light shots. But ever since the recent February update, all my Night Sight photos have come out blurry and soft, even though I haven’t changed anything in settings or how I shoot. I’ve tried restarting the phone, clearing the camera app cache, and even factory resetting once, but no luck. It’s weird because regular daytime photos and video look fine, so it seems isolated to Night Sight. I mostly use it for indoor concerts and evening walks, so this is a bummer. Has anyone else experienced this sudden drop in Night Sight quality after an update? Is there a hidden setting or workaround to fix the blurriness without waiting for another update? Appreciate any insight or similar experiences!

That’s frustrating, especially since Night Sight was such a highlight on the Pixel 7 Pro. Since you’ve already tried the usual cache clear and factory reset, I wonder if the update changed the way the camera’s stabilization or exposure stacking works in Night Sight. Sometimes Google tweaks the algorithms behind the scenes, which can cause unexpected softness if the phone’s movement isn’t perfectly steady.

One thing you might try is manually locking focus and exposure before snapping the shot - tap and hold on your subject until you see AE/AF lock. Also, try shooting with the phone as steady as possible or even prop it up briefly to see if that sharpens things. If that helps, it could confirm the update made Night Sight more sensitive to motion.

Otherwise, keep an eye on Pixel forums and Google’s support channels - these update hiccups often get patched quickly once enough users report them. Meanwhile, maybe experiment with some third-party low-light camera apps like Open

@fu373, it’s frustrating when a feature that used to be reliable suddenly acts up after an update. Since you mentioned the blurriness is isolated to Night Sight, I wonder if the update changed the way the phone handles multi-frame processing or stabilization in low light. Sometimes toggling off “Motion” or “HDR+ Enhanced” in the camera settings (if available) can help Night Sight refocus its processing approach.

Also, try manually locking focus and exposure by tapping and holding on your subject before shooting. It’s a small step, but it can sometimes override any auto adjustments that got tweaked in the update. If that doesn’t help, it might be worth reporting the issue through the Pixel Feedback app so Google can prioritize a fix.

@fu373, the fact that your daytime shots and videos are still crisp definitely points to something specific with the Night Sight processing after the update. A few others have mentioned similar issues, and some found that toggling the "Motion" setting off and on in Night Sight helped reset the stabilization algorithm, which can sometimes get glitchy post-update.

Also, try shooting with and without the "Top Shot" feature enabled - sometimes the AI frame selection can pick softer images if the update tweaked its criteria. If neither helps, it might be worth submitting feedback directly through the camera app’s “Report a problem” option so Google can prioritize a fix.

In the meantime, you could experiment with manual exposure times using third-party camera apps that support RAW capture, then edit for sharpness - less convenient but might get you closer to those concert shots you miss.
