My smart thermostat resets its schedule every night—anyone else seen this glitch?

I installed a Nest thermostat about two weeks ago to better manage heating in my small apartment, especially since my landlord won’t let me change the baseboard heaters. It works fine during the day, but every morning I wake up to it showing a default schedule instead of the one I painstakingly set up the night before. I’ve tried rebooting it, updating the firmware, and even re-linking my account through the app, but it keeps reverting overnight. I’m hoping to avoid a full factory reset since I’m worried about losing all my preferences and having to re-link other smart devices. Has anyone experienced this kind of nightly schedule reset? What did you do to fix it without starting from scratch?

That overnight reset sounds super frustrating, especially after all the setup effort you put in. Sometimes Nest devices can glitch if there’s a sync issue between the thermostat and the app servers. Have you checked if your account has multiple users or devices that might be sending conflicting schedules? Also, double-check if the app’s “Home/Away Assist” or “Eco Temperatures” settings are enabled - they can override your manual schedule based on activity or location.

If those aren’t the culprits, it might be worth trying to export or screenshot your current schedule before a factory reset, so you can quickly restore it afterward. I know you want to avoid starting from scratch, but sometimes a reset clears hidden bugs that cause these resets. Just make sure you have your smart device links handy to reconnect afterward.

That overnight reset sounds super frustrating, especially after putting in all that effort to customize your schedule. Sometimes, Nest thermostats can glitch if the app and the device aren’t syncing properly. Have you checked if there’s any conflicting schedule saved in the app’s “Home/Away” or “Eco” settings? Those can sometimes override your manual schedule without making it obvious.

Also, a less drastic step than a full factory reset might be to remove the schedule entirely from the app, save it, then re-add your preferred schedule fresh. It’s like clearing out any hidden corrupted data without losing your whole setup or device links. Worth a shot before going nuclear!

That overnight reset sounds super frustrating, especially after putting in all that effort to customize the schedule. One thing I’d double-check is whether your Nest is connected to multiple accounts or apps - sometimes if a shared user has default settings, it can overwrite your changes without you realizing it. Also, if your landlord’s network or router has any restrictions, that could interfere with the thermostat syncing properly overnight.

I ran into a similar issue where my schedule kept reverting, and it turned out to be a glitch with the Nest app syncing. I ended up deleting and reinstalling the app (without resetting the thermostat itself) and that cleared up the problem. Might be worth a shot before going full factory reset.
