I’m dreading my weekly book club meetings even though I love reading and the group

I’ve been part of a local book club for about six months now. We pick a new book each month and meet weekly to discuss chapters. I genuinely enjoy the books and the idea of sharing thoughts with others, but lately, the actual meetings have started making me anxious. The group is pretty lively and talkative, and I find myself getting overwhelmed trying to keep up or add anything meaningful. Sometimes I just zone out or feel like I’m not contributing enough, which leaves me feeling disconnected afterward. I’ve tried preparing notes and reading discussion questions in advance, but it hasn’t helped much.

It’s weird because I don’t want to leave the group, but I also don’t want to feel dread every time the meeting comes around. Has anyone else felt like social settings tied to their hobbies suddenly became stressful? How did you handle it without giving up on something you genuinely enjoy?
