Seriously, I feel like I’m knee-deep in involuntarily consumed celebrity propaganda. It’s one thing to respect and admire the work of actors, musicians and athletes who have perfected their craft, but entirely another when they invade every aspect of life to “build their brand”. I swear, I can’t open Instagram without my feed being clogged up by a, once relevant, B-lister peddling beauty products or a fitness regime that can supposedly give anyone a body like theirs in just 30 days.

And it’s not just social media. Go to the grocery store and you’ll find cookbooks lining the shelves with celebrity faces grinning back at you. Since when did being good at acting also certify you as a masterchef? I just want my five ingredient meal, not the possibility to cook like a four-hit wonder from the early ’90s.

Don’t even get me started on the autobiographies. These are often dished up by celebrities who barely scraped out of their twenties and already they assume people want an intimate look at their lives.

They’re people, just like us. They shouldn’t dictate our fashion trends, our meal choices, or how we do yoga on a Tuesday morning. Let’s enjoy their work, but not treat them as all-knowing beings that permeate every aspect of life. Anyone else feeling celebrity-ed out, or is it just me?

Absolutely agree with your point! The saturation of celebrity branding almost feels inescapable in today’s digital era. Still, remember that the choice ultimately lies with us. Simply unfollow or mute anyone from social media platforms who feels more like a brand ambassador than an actual person. Let’s remind ourselves to filter the content we consume, and focus more on genuine inspirations than perfectly curated lifestyles. Behind every celebrity endorsement, there’s an individual choice - we can choose to engage or ignore. Facing something similar, your post definitely sparked a needed discussion!
