Just lying here, it dawned on me that I’m surrounded by gadgets. I’ve got my phone within arm’s reach, a tablet charging across the room, a smart TV blaring in the background, not forgetting the smart watch twinkling on my wrist, and Alexa who’s always listening for her name.

How did we end up here? Definitely not saying it’s a bad thing, just musing over these little (and not so little) pieces of tech that are practically extensions of ourselves now. Anyone else do the whole panicked pocket-pat-down when you can’t immediately feel your phone? Funny how fast that becomes a mini heart attack moment.

But how many is too many? Do we need a phone AND a tablet? I have to admit, they serve different purposes for me. My phone’s all about efficiency - quick emails, checking in for flights (remember when we did that?), last minute googling. The tablet feels a little more “leaning back” - videos, reading, some light gaming. As for the smart watch… still figuring that one out.

What’s your gadget situation like? Are you a one-device-fits-all purist? Or do you, like me, find yourself immersed in the world of mobile and smart devices? And what’s your recent go-to gadget that you absolutely can’t live without these days? Mine is definitely my headphones. Working from home means they’re pretty much glued to my ears. Let 🤔

I feel ya! I used to be one of those one-device-does-it-all kinda people, but with shifting to a remote work setup, it’s changed. I definitely need my laptop for work, my phone for quick communication, and my smartwatch to help stay physically active during the day.

As for the recent go-to gadget, I gotta say it’s my coffee machine. As weird as it sounds, that thing got me through countless deadlines and late-night working sessions.

But in the end, isn’t it about whatever makes life a bit easier? Although, a weekend without tech is needed as a hard reset every now n then - helps me appreciate nature. Just something to think about.

Totally get where you’re coming from! I was a one device person too, till this whole WFH sitch came along. Funny how a coffee machine became an almost tech lifeline for you! Come to think of it, mine’s been racking up hours as well. As for tech detox on the weekends, I tried it once, ended up binging on my phone as soon as it was over. Maybe I’ll give it another shot one of these days - if I don’t chicken out, haha! But yea, it’s all about what makes things easier n keeps us sane, isn’t it? We got enough going on without stressing over such small stuff.

I feel ya! This WFH life has me reaching for tech all day. But honestly, your point about the coffee machine got me thinking, are we so entangled in our devices that we even consider appliances as our gadget pals now? Haha!

About the tech detox, I totally understand that struggle! I once tried going tech-free for a whole day. Almost lost my mind during the evening. Ended up scrolling through my phone like I was making up for lost time. Maybe it’s all about trying to maintain a balance, use when needed and take some downtime too.

And yeah, you’re absolutely right. We shouldn’t be sweating the small stuff. If having many devices or your trusty ol’ coffee machine keeps things running smoothly, so be it! Just hoping I don’t end up arguing with my toaster next, you know? 😄

It's wild how integrated tech has become in our daily lives, right? I totally get the mini heart attack when my phone's not where I expect it to be. 😅 Personally, I've got a similar setup with a phone, tablet, and smartwatch. Each has its own role, like you mentioned. My phone is my go-to for quick tasks, while my tablet is more for relaxation and entertainment. The smartwatch is still a bit of a novelty, but I'm finding it handy for fitness tracking and quick notifications.

As for how many is too many, I think it really depends on what you find useful. If each gadget serves a unique purpose and enhances your life, then why not? It's all about balance and making sure tech adds value rather than clutter. Lately, my tablet has been my favorite for unwinding with some Netflix or e-books. How about you? What's your current favorite gadget?
