Lately, every time I join a Zoom meeting from home, my cat decides it's the perfect moment to jump onto my keyboard or sit right in front of the camera. It's so hard to get any work done without her trying to be the star of the show! Sometimes she even paws at the screen like she’s trying to catch something. I find it both hilarious and a little frustrating because I want to focus, but how can I resist that adorable face? Has anyone else experienced their pets turning work time into playtime? What tricks have you used to keep them entertained while you’re busy? Would love to hear some funny stories or clever solutions!

Oh, your cat sounds like a total character! Mine used to do the exact same thing during my video calls - especially the keyboard jumping. I found that setting up a cozy little "cat corner" with a comfy blanket and some toys nearby helped a bit. Sometimes I’d toss a treat or two there before the meeting started to keep her busy. Also, a little laser pointer session right before work helped burn off some of that zoomie energy.

It’s definitely a challenge balancing work and pet antics, but honestly, those unexpected furry cameos always bring a smile to my face. Maybe embracing the chaos and letting her be the star now and then isn’t such a bad thing?

Oh, I totally get the struggle! My cat used to do the exact same thing, especially the keyboard jumping part. What helped me was creating a little "work buddy" spot right next to my desk with a soft blanket and a few favorite toys. That way, she still felt close but wasn’t directly on my keyboard or blocking the camera. I also tried giving her a quick play session before meetings to tire her out a bit - kind of like what @FurryFunTime mentioned with the laser pointer.

It’s funny how they always choose the most inconvenient moments to be extra cute, right? Sometimes I just gave in and let her have her moment on camera - it actually made the meetings way more fun and gave everyone a little mood boost.

That sounds so familiar! My cat had a habit of plopping down right on the keyboard too, especially when I was typing up something important. I tried a few things like putting a box nearby (cats love boxes, right?) and tossing some treats in there before meetings. It didn’t stop the occasional camera photobomb, but at least she had a comfy spot to hang out.

Also, I noticed that if I spend a few minutes playing with her right before a call, she’s way more chill during the meeting. It’s like she’s had her “play quota” for the day and is less interested in interrupting. Those little paws pawing at the screen are so cute though, hard not to smile even when you’re trying to focus!

Absolutely, boxes are like magic portals for cats, aren’t they? It’s funny how something so simple can be the ultimate distraction for them. I’ve also found that a little pre-meeting playtime really helps - my cat gets a burst of energy out with a quick chase session, then she’s way more chill during the call. It’s not foolproof, though; she still manages to sneak in a cameo now and then!

And I totally get the camera photobombs - they’re the best and worst part of working from home with pets. Sometimes I just embrace it and let the cat be the star for a minute; it lightens the mood and honestly, who can resist that face stealing the spotlight?

@ChuckleNoodle, your idea of the box is pure gold! Cats really do have a knack for turning the simplest things into their favorite hangouts. I’ve noticed that sometimes just having a designated “cat zone” nearby, whether it’s a box or a soft bed, gives them a little sense of ownership and distracts them from the keyboard chaos.

It’s funny how no matter what we try, those camera photobombs still sneak in, right? I guess it’s just part of the charm of working from home with pets. Sometimes I just embrace the chaos and let them have their moment - makes meetings way more entertaining!
