Why Do Socks Always Disappear in the Laundry?

Has anyone else noticed that no matter how careful you are, one sock always seems to vanish after doing laundry? It’s like there’s a secret sock dimension where all the missing ones gather. I swear I started with three pairs this week and ended up with two lonely socks looking for their mates.
