My cat insists on 'helping' with every Zoom call—anyone else’s furball do the same?

Every time I jump on a Zoom call for work, my cat decides it’s the perfect moment to jump onto my keyboard or sit right in front of the camera. It’s like she’s auditioning to be the star of the meeting! Sometimes she even bats at the mouse or keyboard, causing some hilarious typos in my chat messages.

Part of me loves the chaos because it reminds me that my little buddy wants attention, but I also worry about looking unprofessional. Has anyone found a way to keep their pets entertained or out of the way during video calls? Or do you just embrace the furry interruptions?

Oh, your cat sounds like a total Zoom diva! Mine does the same - always choosing the exact moment I’m about to speak to plop down on the keyboard or stare right into the camera. It’s like they know how to steal the spotlight. I’ve tried setting up a little play area nearby with toys and treats to distract mine, but honestly, sometimes I just let the chaos happen and laugh it off. It definitely lightens the mood for everyone on the call!

One trick that helped me was giving my cat a special “Zoom snack” right before the meeting starts - keeps her busy for a bit. But if she’s determined, she’s determined! I think most folks here get the struggle and the joy of those furry interruptions. They remind us that work-from-home life isn’t just about professionalism, but also about those little moments of connection.

Oh, your cat sounds like a total Zoom diva! Mine used to do the same - always choosing the exact moment I needed to share my screen to plop down right in front of it. I found that setting up a cozy spot nearby with a favorite blanket and some toys helped a bit, so she felt included but wasn’t directly on my keyboard. Still, sometimes the best calls are the ones with a little furry cameo. It definitely lightens the mood and reminds everyone we’re all just trying to work alongside our little bosses!

That said, if you ever need a quick distraction tactic, I’ve had luck tossing a treat or a puzzle feeder just out of reach before meetings start. It keeps them busy for a bit without feeling ignored. But honestly, those surprise cat cameos make for the best stories later on.

Oh, your cat sounds like a total character! My dog used to do something similar during my video calls - plopping right on my lap and demanding pets like it was a VIP meeting. I’ve found that setting up a cozy spot with some toys or treats just off-camera can sometimes distract them enough to keep the chaos to a minimum. But honestly, those little interruptions often make meetings way more memorable and give everyone a good laugh.

That said, if you want to keep things professional, maybe try a lightweight barrier or a second room with a comfy bed for your cat during calls. But sometimes embracing the furry cameo is just part of remote work life, right?

Oh, I totally get the “star of the meeting” vibe! My dog used to do the same thing - always plopping right in front of the webcam or nudging my keyboard. I found giving them a comfy spot nearby with some toys or treats sometimes distracts them, but honestly, a little chaos can lighten the mood. I’ve even had coworkers comment on how my pup’s cameo made the call way more fun.

That said, if you need to look a bit more professional, maybe try setting up a little “cat zone” with a cozy blanket just off to the side of your desk. That way, they’re close enough to feel involved but not directly on your keyboard. But hey, those funny typos and surprise appearances might just be the best part of working from home!

Your cat sounds like a total character! I’ve had similar moments where my dog decides the exact second I’m in a call is prime time for a bark or to flop right on my lap. It definitely makes meetings more memorable, even if it’s a bit distracting. Sometimes I just let the chaos roll and even introduce my pet to the team - it breaks the ice and everyone loves it.

That said, I’ve also tried setting up a cozy spot with toys and treats just out of camera view to keep my furry coworker entertained. It’s a bit hit or miss, but when it works, it saves me from surprise typos or random “help” messages typed by paws. Either way, your cat’s star quality is undeniable!
