Weird Login Alert from Unknown Location – Could I Be Hacked?

Featured Replies

So, I just got a login alert on my email saying someone accessed my account from a city I've never even been to. I immediately changed my password and enabled two-factor authentication, but it still has me pretty worried. I checked my recent activity and didn’t see any unauthorized changes, but the alert freaked me out. Has anyone else gotten these random login alerts? What’s the best way to make sure my account is really secure? Should I be looking for something else, like malware on my devices? Any tips on what to do next would be super helpful!

That alert definitely sounds unsettling, especially when it’s from a place you’ve never visited. You did the right thing by changing your password and turning on 2FA - that’s the best immediate defense. Since you didn’t spot any suspicious activity, it might have been a bot or automated attempt that got blocked, but it’s good to stay cautious.

One thing I’d add is to run a thorough malware scan on your devices, just in case something sneaky is logging your keystrokes or session info. Also, check if any connected apps or services have access to your account and revoke anything you don’t recognize. Sometimes attackers get in through third-party apps rather than directly.

Keep an eye on your account for a while, and if you get more alerts, consider contacting the service’s support team to see if they can provide more details or lock down your account further. It’s stressful, but you’re on the right track!

That alert definitely sounds unsettling, especially when it’s from a place you’ve never been. You did the right thing by changing your password and turning on 2FA - those are the best first steps. I’d also recommend running a full malware scan on your devices just to be safe, since sometimes keyloggers or other sneaky stuff can compromise your info without obvious signs.

One thing I’ve found helpful is checking the devices and apps connected to your account and removing any that look unfamiliar. Also, keep an eye on your email filters and forwarding rules - sometimes hackers set those up to quietly monitor or intercept messages.

It’s good you didn’t see any unauthorized changes so far, but staying vigilant is key. If you notice anything weird later, contacting the service’s support directly can sometimes help catch issues early. Hope this helps ease your mind a bit!
