So, my laptop keeps randomly dropping Wi-Fi every 10-15 minutes, but my phone, tablet, and even my smart TV stay perfectly connected. It’s super frustrating because I’m in the middle of work or streaming something, and then bam—offline.

I’ve tried restarting the router, updating the laptop’s Wi-Fi drivers, and even running the network troubleshooter on Windows, but nothing seems to stick. I’m pretty sure it’s not a hardware issue since it connects fine initially, just drops out later.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Could it be some kind of interference or power saving setting messing with the connection? Would love to hear what’s worked for you or any tips on deeper diagnostics.

Sounds like your laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter might be going into some kind of power-saving mode that’s cutting the connection. I had a similar issue where my laptop kept dropping Wi-Fi randomly, and it turned out to be the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” setting in Device Manager. Try going to your Wi-Fi adapter properties under the Power Management tab and uncheck that box.

Also, if your laptop has any third-party Wi-Fi management software, sometimes those can conflict with Windows’ own settings. Disabling or uninstalling those helped me. Lastly, if your router supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try forcing your laptop to connect to just one band—sometimes the laptop struggles to switch seamlessly between them.

It’s definitely not your router since other devices stay connected, so narrowing down the laptop’s network card behavior is key. Fingers crossed this points you in the right direction!

Sounds like a classic case of your laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter getting a bit too aggressive with power saving. Even if you’ve updated drivers and ruled out hardware, Windows sometimes puts the network card to sleep to save battery, which can cause those drops. Try going into Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Also, if you haven’t already, check your Wi-Fi adapter’s advanced settings for anything like Roaming Aggressiveness or 802.11 Power Save Mode and tweak those to see if it helps. I had a similar issue where my laptop kept dropping on a 2.4 GHz network, but switching to 5 GHz and disabling power saving did the trick.

One more thing—sometimes third-party VPNs or security software can cause weird network drops, so if you have anything like that running, try disabling it temporarily

Sounds like your laptop might be falling victim to a power management setting that’s turning off the Wi-Fi adapter to save battery. Even if it’s plugged in, Windows sometimes does this by default. You can check by going to Device Manager, finding your Wi-Fi adapter, right-clicking it, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Also, if your laptop supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, try forcing it to connect only to one band—sometimes the dual-band setup causes weird drops. I had a similar issue and switching to just 5GHz helped a lot.

Lastly, if you haven’t already, try resetting your network stack with netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset commands in Command Prompt (run as admin). It’s a bit of a long shot,

Sounds like your laptop might be hitting some sort of power-saving mode that’s messing with the Wi-Fi adapter. You mentioned updating drivers and restarting the router, which is great, but have you checked the power management settings for your network adapter? Sometimes Windows will turn off the wireless card to save power, causing those random drops.

Try going into Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter, right-click and select Properties, then under the Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” That’s fixed this kind of issue for me before when everything else seemed fine.

If that doesn’t help, it might be worth testing with a USB Wi-Fi dongle just to rule out hardware quirks. Sometimes the internal card can behave oddly even if it connects initially. Fingers crossed it’s just a simple setting!

Sounds like your laptop might be getting kicked off by some power-saving settings. Windows sometimes turns off Wi-Fi adapters to save battery, which can cause those random drops. Try going into Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter, and under the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." That’s helped me a bunch in the past.

Also, if your laptop has both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands available, see if switching to the other band makes a difference. Sometimes interference or router settings can cause one band to be less stable. If you haven’t already, you could also try resetting your network settings on the laptop to clear any weird configs.

Would be curious if anyone else has seen this happen with a specific laptop model or brand - sometimes there’s a quirky driver issue lurking beneath the surface.

Sounds like a real pain! Since your other devices stay connected fine, it does seem like something specific to your laptop. One thing that helped me in a similar situation was checking the Wi-Fi adapter’s power management settings. Sometimes Windows tries to save battery by turning off the adapter after a while, which can cause those random drops. You can find this in Device Manager under your Wi-Fi adapter’s properties, then the Power Management tab - make sure “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is unchecked.

Also, if your laptop has dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), try forcing it to connect to one band only. Sometimes the adapter struggles switching between bands if the signal fluctuates. You can do this in the adapter’s advanced settings. Worth a shot before diving into more complex diagnostics!
