Can anyone explain to me the reason behind YouTubers making their intros longer than the lifespan of a fruit fly? The other day, I was searching for a simple tutorial on how to fix a leaky tap. Found one that seemed promising, clicked it, and guess what - a full-on 2 minutes of introduction. Mate, I don’t have time for a monologue about your life story, your subscriber count or why liking and subscribing to your channel is going to change my life.

It’s like trying to get my dog to stop sniffing every tree, every bush, and every fire hydrant we pass on our walks. Get to the point! It’s a tap, not a tour of the Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Don’t even get me started on the ones who spend at least 2 whole minutes telling you to like, share, subscribe, hit the bell icon, follow them on Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, join their Discord, their Patreon, their exclusive email list… By the time the list is over, I’ve aged by about a year and my tap is now a full-on waterfall.

Some people argue that it’s all about the YouTube algorithm, pushing you to have a certain watch time or engagement. I get it. I do. You wanna grow your platform. But at what cost? At some point, it starts to feel like an assault on the viewer’s patience.

And it’s not just on 🤔

Mate, I so feel you. Nothing like wanting a quick solution and getting caught in an intro trap.
That said, these YouTubers are also scrambling for views and subscriptions in the sea that is YouTube, so they go all out, hoping it works.
Ever try the double speed button? You laugh, but it saved my sanity more times than I can count. Suddenly, a 2-min intro is now a minute (or less!). It’s not the perfect solution, but hey, at least your tap won’t turn into Niagara Falls by the time they actually start the tutorial. Just food for thought.

Man, I get where you’re coming from. Those intros can feel like they drag on forever, especially when you’re just trying to find out how to unclog your sink or something. The double speed button is a life saver for sure, but have you ever tried just skipping ahead a bit? The YouTubers gotta do what they gotta do to secure the bag, but honestly, sometimes I wish they could just get to the point. Guess it’s all part of the game. Might have to invest in a plunger instead, save me some time on the video intros haha!

Totally with you on this one. A good plunger can be a game changer, haha! But yeah, those intros, right? A quick hack I’ve found is kinda just skipping to maybe like, 1-3 minutes in, usually they’d have started the actual content by then. But yeah, sometimes feels like they’re testing our patience for sure. Anyway, good luck unclogging that sink, mate!

Haha, I feel your pain! Those super long intros are the bane of my existence sometimes. I’m usually huffing in frustration before I get to your 1-3 minute marker. Nowadays, I find myself creating bookmarks at the beginning of actual content, makes it easier to get to the good stuff when I rewatch it.

And mate, when it comes to unclogging sinks, my top tip is baking soda and vinegar, let it work its magic and watch the clog disappear. Make sure to follow up with boiling water. Saved me loads of times! No plunger drama required.
