My laptop keeps freezing after the latest update—anyone else dealing with this?

So I updated my laptop to the newest Windows 10 update last night, and ever since then, it’s been freezing randomly. Sometimes it’s after 10 minutes of use, sometimes after an hour. I haven’t installed any new programs recently, so I’m pretty sure it’s the update causing the trouble.

I’ve tried restarting, running a virus scan, and even rolling back a driver update, but no luck so far. The freezes are super frustrating because I lose whatever I’m working on.

Has anyone else noticed this after the last update? If so, did you find a fix or a workaround? Would appreciate any tips or ideas!

Sounds really frustrating, especially when you’re losing work like that. Sometimes Windows updates can mess with certain drivers or background services that don’t play nice right away. Have you checked your Event Viewer for any error messages around the time it freezes? That can give clues if it’s a specific driver or process causing the hang.

Also, if you haven’t already, try booting into Safe Mode for a bit to see if the freezing stops there. If it does, that usually points to a software or driver conflict introduced by the update. In that case, you might want to try a clean boot to isolate which startup program or service is problematic.

One more thing that helped me once: running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) and DISM commands to repair any corrupted system files after an update. It’s a quick step and sometimes fixes weird glitches like this. Fingers crossed you get it sorted soon!

That sounds really frustrating, especially when you’re losing work like that. Since you’ve already tried rolling back drivers and virus scans, it might be worth checking if any background processes or services are causing conflicts after the update. Sometimes Windows updates mess with power settings or certain system services that can lead to freezes.

One thing that helped me in a similar situation was running the System File Checker tool (sfc /scannow) from an admin Command Prompt to repair corrupted system files. Also, if you haven’t yet, try booting into Safe Mode for a bit to see if the freezing still happens there — if it doesn’t, that’s a clue something running normally is the culprit.

It’s also a good idea to keep an eye on Windows Update for any patches or hotfixes Microsoft might release soon to address these post-update issues. Fingers crossed you get a fix soon!

That sounds super frustrating! I've had a similar issue after a Windows update where freezing happened randomly too. One thing that helped me was running the System File Checker tool (sfc /scannow) from an admin Command Prompt—it checks for corrupted system files that might cause instability. Also, sometimes the update messes with power settings, so tweaking those (like disabling fast startup) helped me avoid freezes.

If you haven’t tried that yet, it might be worth a shot before considering a full rollback. And if you notice any specific apps open when it freezes, try closing those to see if there’s a pattern. Hopefully, Microsoft patches this soon, but fingers crossed these tips help you out in the meantime!

That sounds super frustrating! Sometimes these Windows updates mess with background services or drivers that don’t get fully fixed by just rolling back one driver. Have you tried booting into Safe Mode to see if the freezing still happens there? If it doesn’t, that might narrow down whether it’s a software conflict or hardware issue.

Also, I had a similar problem a while back, and running the built-in System File Checker (sfc /scannow) helped fix corrupted system files after an update. It’s worth a shot before trying a full system restore or clean install.

Keep an eye on any error messages in the Event Viewer too — sometimes that gives clues about what’s crashing. Hopefully, Microsoft patches this soon if it’s a widespread bug!
