Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting on my laptop after the latest update, any ideas?

So, I recently updated my Windows 10 laptop to the latest version, and since then, my Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping randomly every 10-15 minutes. It’s super annoying because I’m in the middle of work calls and streams, and then boom—the internet’s gone.

I’ve tried restarting the router, running the network troubleshooter, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the Wi-Fi driver, but nothing seems to stick. I also checked for any new network adapters in Device Manager, but all looks normal.

Has anyone else faced this issue after a Windows update? What worked to fix it? Would rolling back the update be a good idea, or is there a better solution?

That sounds really frustrating, especially with work calls on the line. Since you’ve already tried the usual router restart and driver reinstall, one thing I’d check is the power management settings for your Wi-Fi adapter. Sometimes after an update, Windows sets the adapter to turn off to save power, which can cause those random drops. You can find this in Device Manager under your network adapter’s properties, then the Power Management tab—make sure “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is unchecked.

Also, if your router firmware is outdated, it might not play well with the new Windows update, so it’s worth checking for router updates too. Rolling back the Windows update could help, but it’s usually a last resort since updates often fix other issues. If nothing works, maybe try connecting via Ethernet temporarily to see if the problem is definitely Wi-Fi-specific.

Sounds frustrating! Since you’ve already reinstalled the Wi-Fi driver and checked Device Manager, one thing to try is disabling the “Power Saving” feature for your wireless adapter. Sometimes Windows updates reset these settings, causing the adapter to power down intermittently. You can find this in Device Manager under your Wi-Fi adapter’s properties, then the Power Management tab - uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Also, if your router’s firmware is outdated, it might not play nicely with the latest Windows update, so a quick firmware update on the router could help. Rolling back the update is an option, but it’s usually better to try these tweaks first since updates often fix other security issues.

Have you checked if any VPN or security software might be interfering? I had a similar issue once, and disabling my VPN client resolved the random drops. Worth a shot!
