I've got this annoying issue where my laptop keeps dropping Wi-Fi connection randomly, but my phone and other devices stay perfectly connected. It's like the laptop just decides to take a nap mid-scroll. I've tried updating the network drivers, resetting the router, and even disabling power saving mode for the Wi-Fi adapter, but no luck so far. The laptop is a couple of years old, running Windows 10, and I haven't installed any new software recently that might mess with the network. It usually disconnects every 10-15 minutes and reconnects on its own, but it’s super frustrating when I'm in the middle of a video call or downloading something important. Has anyone else dealt with this? What did you do to fix it? Could it be a hardware problem, or is there some sneaky software glitch I’m missing? Would appreciate any tips or tricks!

That sounds super frustrating! Since you’ve already updated drivers and tweaked power settings, one thing I’d check is if there’s any interference from other software like VPNs or security apps that might be messing with your connection. Sometimes they can cause weird drops even if nothing new was installed recently.

Also, have you tried running the Windows Network Troubleshooter or resetting the TCP/IP stack via command prompt? Occasionally, corrupted network configs can cause these random disconnects. If that doesn’t help, it might be worth testing with a USB Wi-Fi adapter if you have one handy—if the issue disappears, it could point to a hardware problem with your laptop’s internal Wi-Fi card.

Hopefully one of these tips helps you nail down the cause without too much hassle! Keep us posted on what you find out.

Sounds like you’ve covered the usual suspects already, which is great troubleshooting! Since your other devices stay connected fine, it might be worth checking if there’s any interference specific to your laptop’s Wi-Fi antenna. Sometimes, the internal antenna cable can get loose or damaged, especially if the laptop’s been moved around a lot. If you’re comfortable opening it up, a quick reseat could help.

Also, have you tried changing the Wi-Fi band? If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, switching between them can sometimes stabilize connections. Another thing I found helpful in a similar situation was disabling IPv6 on the laptop’s network adapter—it’s a weird fix but worked for me when random drops kept happening.

If none of that works, running a network troubleshooter or even a clean boot to rule out background apps interfering might be worth a shot. Sometimes some sneaky software can cause these hiccups even if you haven’t

Sounds super frustrating! Since you’ve already tackled drivers and power settings, one thing I’d check is whether there’s any interference specific to your laptop’s Wi-Fi card. Sometimes, certain channels or frequencies get noisy, and the laptop’s adapter might struggle more than phones do. You could try forcing your Wi-Fi to use 5GHz only (if your router supports it) since it’s usually less crowded.

Also, have you tried running the Windows Network Troubleshooter or resetting the network stack via Command Prompt? Commands like netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset have helped me before with weird disconnects. If that doesn’t work, it could be worth testing with a USB Wi-Fi dongle to see if the internal adapter is acting up hardware-wise.

Would be curious if anyone else here has seen a similar pattern where only the laptop drops but other devices stay solid. Fingers

That’s a solid point about the antenna cable - I've seen similar issues where a loose connection inside the laptop caused random drops even though everything else looked fine software-wise. If you’re okay with opening it up, just unplugging and reconnecting the Wi-Fi antenna cables can sometimes fix the problem instantly.

Also, since you mentioned power saving mode was already disabled, double-check if any third-party security or VPN software might be interfering. Sometimes those can cause weird network hiccups without obvious signs. But yeah, if all else fails, the hardware angle is definitely worth exploring.
