so, I’ve been scrolling my social media feeds and watching the news lately and it’s driving me crazy with all this negative feed. The global pandemic, climate change, you name it, it’s just terrifying to me. My anxiety’s been through the roof and it’s just all too much sometimes, you know? Is anyone else experiencing this emotional overload? What’s helping you cope with it?

I’ve tried to limit my exposure to news and social media but sometimes I slip up, and get sucked into the vortex again. The bombardment of these worrying views and scary situations really saps my emotional energy.

Sometimes, I have this huge guilt hovering over me when I see the world hurting and I am safe at home, sipping my tea, going to bed with a full belly, and privileged enough to have a stable job during these trying times. Anyone else relate to that or is it just me?

Also, if you’ve got any tips on how to keep calm when the world seems out of control, I’m keen to hear them. Just help me out here, I’ve been struggling with this so much lately. Or, better yet, share some good news stories. I could benefit from positive points of view on the world. Thanks.

Definitely feel you on this. Social media and news can be a downer, no question. Have you tried adding some good news account on your feed? There’s places like @TanksGoodNews and @GoodNewsMovement on Instagram that only share positive stories, always helps balance things out for me.

About feeling guilty, remember you can only do what you can do. That guilt probably means you’re a good person who cares about others, which is awesome. Maybe when that guilt hits, try and channel it into something positive like volunteering or donation?

Hang in there mate, we’re all riding this rollercoaster together.

Totally get what you’re saying! Good news accounts can be a real mood booster. But also remember, it’s okay to take a break from all the buzz if needed. Do what feels right for you. When I start feeling the guilt, I try to turn it into action. I can’t fix everything (no one can), but I can do my bit, right? Few hours at the local food drive or sharing helpful posts/content can make me feel a bit better. Remember to take care of yourself first though. This world’s a wild ride, but we’re all in together.💛
