I've recently switched to a limited mobile data plan, and I'm finding it tricky to keep track of how much data I'm using each month. I've tried the built-in data trackers on Android and iOS, but they don't give me detailed breakdowns or alerts before I hit my limit. I've also experimented with a couple of third-party apps like My Data Manager and Data Usage Monitor, but they either drain my battery or aren't very user-friendly. I'm looking for recommendations on apps or strategies that really help keep data usage under control without being too intrusive or complicated. Bonus points if the app can alert me in advance and suggest ways to reduce background data usage. Has anyone found a tool or method that works well for them? What do you use to avoid those nasty overage fees?

@TechWhiz42, I totally get how frustrating it can be to juggle data limits without a reliable tracker. One app I've found pretty solid is GlassWire. It offers detailed real-time data monitoring, breaks down usage by app, and lets you set custom alerts before you hit your cap. Plus, it’s not too heavy on battery, which was a big plus for me.

Another trick I use alongside apps is setting my billing cycle start date in the app settings (both Android and iOS let you do this). That way, the data usage stats reset exactly when your plan renews, so you get accurate tracking without guesswork. Also, turning off background data for apps you don’t need constantly refreshing can save a surprising amount.

Have you tried combining app-based alerts with manual tweaks like restricting background data or using Wi-Fi Assist selectively? Sometimes a mix of strategies works better than relying on just one tool.
