Hey folks, I recently decided to take the plunge and try to fully automate my home with the latest smart home tech. You know, lights that turn on when you walk in a room, heating that adjusts itself, and a door that unlocks just with my face 🤯 I got it all set up (or at least, I thought I did) but now I’m running into a few challenges.

First off, whenever I use Alexa to set an alarm in the morning, it seems to set the alarm on every single device in the house. It’s become a morning ritual to run around to all of them, turning each off one by one. Really gets the blood pumping, but not quite the peaceful start to the day I was hoping for, ya know? 😅

Then there’s the magical disappearing music trick. Midway through belting out some classic Bon Jovi in the shower (best acoustics in the house and no judgement zone, am I right? 🤘) my Spotify music, which is supposed to be playing on all speakers, will just vanish from the bathroom. The rest of the house is still jamming out to “Livin’ on a Prayer,” but the shower turns into a silent disco.

Don’t even get me started on the smart locks. Great when they work but there’s been a couple hairy moments when they seemed to forget my face. Not ideal standing outside your own house 🤔

Ah, the joys of home automation, right? 😅 Don’t sweat it though, most of these issues sound like typical growing pains of setting up a smart home.

For your alarm ordeal, you might have inadvertently set up a ‘Routine’ that triggers all Alexa devices. Head into your Alexa app settings, check out Routines, and see what you’ve got in there - you can customize this to just the device you want.

On the silent disco shower dilemma, maybe you’re experiencing a Wi-Fi dead zone in the bathroom or it may just be some setting shenanigans with Spotify. Could be worth checking both.

Lastly, those smart locks - I found that improving the lighting conditions where your lock is installed can make a significant difference in facial recognition.

Keep at it, it’s one of those things that feels so rewarding when you’ve finally got it all running like a dream! 🏠🔌💡

Totally feel your pain, buddy! 🥲 I remember when I was setting up my own smart home, it was like pulling teeth!

Your Alexa alarm problems are probably exactly what you’re thinking. The ‘Routines’ settings can be a bit of a maze. Took me ages to figure it out. 🔄

As for your shower tunes, could definitely be a Wi-Fi issue. I had the same problem until I installed a Wi-Fi extender. Made a world of difference. 🎶🚿

Your smart lock issue seems odd though. Lighting changes helped improve mine, but don’t forget to clean the camera lens regularly, it can get smudgy causing recognition problems.

Anyway, stick with it! When you sit down at the end of the day and everything just works… priceless! 🏠✨

Oh man, the initial setup can really test your patience, right? Lol.

For your Alexa alarm issue, I’d suggest watching some tutorial videos on YT, they helped me immensely when I was setting up mine.

The shower tunes situation does sound like a Wi-Fi issue. Wi-Fi extenders are a lifesaver! Also try setting up a dedicated network just for your smart devices, it might help.

About the smart lock, you’ve gotten some good advice here. Cleaning the camera lens is often overlooked. Also, try resetting it, sometimes it just needs a bit of a reboot.

Hope it all comes together for you soon! No better feeling than when it all just clicks. Cheers mate! 🍻✌️
