I’ve been digging around the subject of self-driving cars and thought I’ll just stir up a conversation here - to see what everyone’s got to say about it.

If you bought a car today, that comes equipped with self-driving capabilities, would you trust it enough to actually let it do the driving? Like hands off, feet off, just sitting behind the wheel reading a book or checking out the scenery?

I recently had the chance to try out Tesla’s autopilot on a friend’s Model S. Gotta tell ya, it was pretty scary to take my hands off the wheel the first time, even on a less crowded highway. It did the job admirably I must say, but it was kinda unnerving to put so much trust in a car – there were all sorts of horror scenarios playing in my head. Yet, my friend, who till date has used it on multiple long drives, swears by its accuracy and safety.

On the flip side, I’ve also been hearing about all these mishaps caused by faulty self-driving vehicles, where it seems like the tech still needs some serious tweaking. And with the recent news about some countries considering banning AI driving due to safety concerns, it’s hard not to get worried.

So, it’s kinda a mixed bag for me right now. But what about you guys? Are you ready to let AI take the wheel or do you think it’s too soon 🤔

Honestly, I’m in the same boat as you. The idea of letting AI drive is thrilling but unnerving. It’s kinda like when you’re learning to drive, right? Big responsibility, high stakes. But I reckon we gotta trust the tech at some point, we’re already putting a lot of faith in AI in other areas of our life. I mean I’m not gonna nap in the backseat while the car’s in autopilot for sure 😂 but wouldn’t mind checking my phone or grabbing a bite without worrying about the wheel for a bit. For now, I say let’s keep an eye on the road and another on the tech’s development. Safety first, always! ⚠️🚘

Yup, gotta agree with you there. The whole self-driving tech thing can feel like being thrown in the deep end, huh? 😅 But reckon it’s going to be like all new tech, hard to trust at the beginning but eventually we get used to it. Like smartphones, remember when they first came out? And now, can’t imagine life without ’em! Still, not racing to be the first one to let go of the wheel completely, hehe. Safety first, you nailed it! But yeah, maybe a little sneaky phone check while eating a sandwich, that sounds pretty cool. Tech’s moving fast, pretty exciting stuff! 🚀👌🏼🚗
