best ways to keep dogs cool in summer

So summer's here and my pup is feeling the heat a bit more than I'd like. Does anyone have any tried and true methods for keeping their furry friends cool during these hotter months? I've tried the classic kiddie pool in the backyard, which he loves, but I'm wondering if there's anything else out there that could help. I've also heard of those cooling mats—any good experiences with those?

Also, what about those doggie ice creams? Are they worth the hype or could I just make something similar at home? If you have any DIY recipes, that'd be awesome! 🐾
