Slow Loading

Hi,
I've got the latest version of Firefox. Using Win XP. Avast AV. Comodo Firewall.
Firefox takes around 30-40 seconds to load after clicking on it.
I've tried IE (which I also have on my pc) and this typically takes half that time or less. Is there anything that can be slowing up FF or is this a typical response time?
I've tried loading it with Avast deactivated but the times are still the same.

Try cleaning up old directories inside the Windows Temp folder. Firefox 3.5 is scanning each directories within the temp folder during the load. To browse to your temp folder, do Start->Run: explorer %temp%
