How good is Win7 in gaming?
#1
I am a big gamer, Mainly FPS. I am using Windows XP with the following specs:
AMD sempron™ Processor
3600+
2.01 GHz, 1.50 GB or RAM
Physical Address Extension

NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT--

So how well will my comp do with Win7? GAMING WISE.
Currently CoD2 I am making 200-320 FPS.

It should do fine. Honestly, it won't differ much from XP, performance wise.

I recommend 3gb of RAM for optimum performance. It will run just fine with 1 though.

You'd want to be good on specs just to run Windows 7. It's very detailed. Have you looked at the minimum requirements for running Windows 7?

Directly from Microsoft's website:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Well if he wants to upgrade i recommend it i've been gaming on my win7 desktop for awhile it's better fps over vista.
About the ram back when i had x86 i would use 4gbs but you won't have to go that high imo lol.
My point is you can buy more ram and upgrade or just still with w.e

If you were to play on XP, the difference wouldn't be much for the same game on Win7... Also, Win7, by default would bring your game up to DirectX 10 (XP ONLY is capable of playing in DirectX 9)... BUT... KNOW THIS:

- Win7 has a built-in DIRECT-X 11 for your extream needs
- Win7 is capable of handling 256bit operations (we currently only have x86(32bit) x64)
- Win7 x64 is capable of handling 16TB(terabytes) of RAM

So... You can upgrade your PC like CRAZY and still have room for more upgrades...
