computer too old for graphics card?
#1
I just got a graphics card from a friend, It's an nvidia, about 2-4 years old. We tried installing it but I kept getting an error saying something along the lines of my computer didn't have enough processing to handle it. Thought it was kind of weird since my computer isn't that old and the graphics card isn't top of the line or even close.

Here are the specs to my PC (Dell Computer Corporation Dimension 4600i ):

Processor
2.80 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Hyper-threaded (2 total)

120g hard drive with 512mb of ram.

Can anyone shed some light on what might be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

It would help if we had the specs of the graphics card as well. Also, if your motherboard can't handle it, then you won't be able to use the graphics card. Just because your computer is fast and may seem new doesn't mean that the motherboard is good enough for the graphics card. It would help to know the model number and the specs of the graphics card though. Also, what slots are on your mother board. (ie. PCI, PCI-E, AGP)
