I go with the Towel Trick
Simple remove your HDD, any games, and AV cable from your box, leaving the power cable connected.
Wrap that baby up in 3 or so towels, set it on the floor (Make sure you turn it on ) and go do something for about 30 minutes.
When you return, your room should smell like burnt plastic.
Unwrap your Xbox, unplug power cable and sit on a tile floor or in front of a fan to cool for 25 minutes.
Then plus it all back in, and Viola! your Xbox should be (almost) as good as new.

WARNING!:
If you Xbox is still under warranty, I do not reccomend doing this.
Just send it back.

Xbox isn't under warranty so I have nothing to worry about.
But I have tried the towel trick and it refuses to work.
I have wrapped it in 4 towels and have left it on for OVER 24 HOURS!
And it still would not get hot. The next day I unwrapped it and it felt the same as the day before.
So my question is, why is the xbox not getting hot at all?

Yes, it has a very slim chance to cause a fire but if it is your last resort, why not.
Better than the $140 price Microsoft charges to fix RROD w/o warranty.

No it isn't. It's a hardware error.
