WoW man, you could get the best of everything with that much, not to mention you're in the US, where it's even cheaper still.
I'd reccomend: 512mb/1024mb Graphics card (I personally prefer Nvidia). 2gb/4gb RAM 2.66G/hz Duel Core processor, or around abouts. Of course, you could easily get double all of that + extras and still have money to spend, but it's up to you. You can decide what to get for the rest Want to set up your own Runescape server? PM Me.

Heres my opinion:
Processor:
Intel Core i7 920 D0 (SLBEJ) 2.66GHz Nehalem or Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 EO Stepping 3.16GHz, Wolfdale Both very good although you could go even better just remember to build your budget around it for RAM:
G.SKill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz or Most high Mhz Ram Upto 4 Gig unless you want a 64bit windows For HDD Space:
I would just go with a standard 250Gb but if you want real performance you will want a solid state drives Velociraptor is a good example Maxtor DiamondMax 23 250GB 7200RPM For Graphics Card:
I look for a well priced but powerful card in my builds my favorite card currently in this category is below Asus ATI Radeon HD4890 1Gb GDDR5 -------------------------------------
Extras: Again if you want real smooth performance watercooling works well theres a cheap package by corsair i believe. If your a gamer a nice Disk drive will do the trick, possibly a Blue Ray again not too bad on price nowadays and sound quality is always good in gaming so again a good sound card will be ideal for you. -------------------------------------
Notes:
Pretty much all of these parts have been used by me in previous builds at sometime or another.

Im from Australia..
Definantly build your own. Never buy pre-built ones. Want to set up your own Runescape server? PM Me.
You can buy custom built computers off eBay which are pretty damn cheap for the stuff they have!
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Core-i7-920-New-N...576wt_1148 is just an example, although its from Australia. To be honest, I built my computer, and it was a good project, taught me a lot, but I don't think I will be doing that again. But i will not be buying a Dell or something, a custom built by a professional soundss like a good idea. annnddddd... if need be, for that in particular computer, you can upgrade it pretty easily as it comes with an SLI motherboard, sou you can buy another board, plug it in, and get even more speed. If thats not enough, theres room for one more!! Oh and by the way, if anyone is going the buy that, it will need a 64-bit operating system to recognize the full amount of RAM available.
