ESET Users: How do you configure ESET Smart Security?

I just switched to ESET Smart Security and what I'm having trouble now is how it detects viruses. I used the EICAR Test File to test how it detects. I don't understand why ESET's manual file scan (on right clicks) have to be separated in two separate modules. The first one has to be a scan and the other one is for cleaning? Which of the two should I use? Is it not possible to have the two in one module? Can I configure it that ESET will delete a virus without having to make a copy in the quarantine? And how effective is it in protecting PCs from removable media when it does not perform scan upon insert of the media..

I am asking these questions because I want to make sure that I did not make a mistake for choosing ESET as my new shield...
