Windows Live Messenger IS SOOO FRUSTRATING!

I've been using Yahoo Messenger 10 (since everybody I know use it) for a long while and I seem kinda bored so I decided to teach myself a new thing with Windows Live Messenger using my newly set-up hotmail account.

I was able to import all my contacts in my Yahoo Mail to my Hotmail and when I logged in to both IM services (to see the differences of the two), that's when the frustration began. Out of 8 people online in my Yahoo messenger, only one appeared in the 'Available' list.

How can I chat people from Yahoo with Windows Live?

Please teach me on how to use Windows Live Messenger.

PS. My Operating System is Windows 7 Starter and Windows Live Messenger was already pre-installed.

Are you sure only 1 was there?

Try downloading the newest MSN Live Messenger.
I know there are issues between MSN & Yahoo.

yes, this is the latest version....

But out of 52 contacts, only 3 are available to be added on my IM contacts to be invited. But when I viewed my Live messenger, there were 6 on my offline list already and no Available contacts..

THIS IS SOOO... CONFUSING!!!! SOMEONE TEACH ME HOW TO USE IT!

It's possible that your contacts on MSN hadn't yet accepted your friendship request. Give it a few days and hopefully, all eight should appear online.

I use aMSN on my windows machine http://www.amsn-project.net/download.php (dark matter 4.0 skin looks pretty sweet)
You could give that a go instead.

Try a different client. Amsn, Trillian, and Pidgin, are quite common.
