Is brutal honesty a bad thing?
#21
Quote:First you claim that you have no way of knowing me.

No, I said YOU don't know ME. That's like the FOURTH time you have misread something I wrote. I'm starting to doubt your English skills.

Quote:Then you claim you know me well enough to know that I am "manipulating the situation".

I don't have to know your life story to know you are "manipulating the situation".. I mean, unless you are accidentally misinterpreting everything I'm writing.

Quote:I've been posting longer than you have been able to even use a computer and I've always done it. I react, re-read, re-react. Get over it, I have.

OK? That doesn't mean anything to me. You have been on SF for less than a month, and have no way of knowing me.
Maybe you should think about what you say before you say it. Saying something rude isn't excused just because you were angry when you wrote it.

Quote:You have a very bad attitude and then I saw on your profile that it says you are 15 and I can see why.

Of course I do! You lashed out at me and insulted me at least twice, directly no less, over an insinuation. What do you expect?
Don't try to judge me because of my age. Do you think you have leverage over me because you are older?
Please, grow up.

Quote:You are 15 and copping an attitude with someone for interpreting a phrase differently than yourself. How mature could you possibly be when you are acting so petulant.

No, I have an attitude because you at first suggested that I was in fact "bordering on rude" when you have NO idea who I am. So, I asked a simple question, and you started this huge flame war.
You truly are a strange person.

Quote:"No, I hate it, it's ugly."

I have more sense than to say that. However, I wouldn't avoid the question by changing the subject.

Quote:If you don't like that I feel that way, instead of asking me if I can't comprehend English, go research the phrase and once you find where it originated, get back to me.

If you honestly can't see why I was offended, then you have a problem, and I'd suggest some therapy.

Quote:And yes, I know I'm editing this and you can see it. Again, you're 15. This isn't new, dear. I've been using forums like this since I was your age so you aren't revealing anything new here so get over yourself.

Again with the age thing. Drop your superiority complex.

Quote:Anyways, I very very highly suggest you get off that teenage holier-than-thou attitude and get over yourself because no one likes someone acting snotty.

Again, you know nothing about me except that you judged me before knowing me and I got angry. What do you know now? That I'm human?
I'm sorry you can't handle confrontation. I can tell by the way you are handling this situation that you are the kind of person used to just smarting off to someone and getting away with it, but you can't go through life acting on these preconceived notions. Keep them to yourself.

Quote:Now that I know you can't even drive a car without a parent in the passenger seat.

Oh, that is SO relevant. It's common for someone to grab at random points that are often unrelated when they realize that they are wrong. So, go ahead and do that. It just confirms my suspicions.

Quote:kids bug me, haha

My age is irrelevant here. Would it change anything if I were 50? No. I'd still be stating the same opinions.
By the way, you state that you and your "husband" don't want kids, yet in another topic, you say "My boyfriend of 3 years.." I'm starting to think you're weaving lies to simply keep this argument going.

Quote:I'm not against all kids but kids with 'tude, yes.

Lo and behold, I'm against adults who have the idea in their heads that being older means they are better than someone. Listen. You're apparently 21, and you think being 6 years older than I am makes you so much better than I am? Get over yourself. You're still in college. That is, if you even went.
Newsflash: I'm not going to "be a good boy" as you would wish and say I'm wrong when I'm not.

Quote:the high school popularity contest thing doesn't hurt my feelings.

Reputation is not a "popularity contest". I just think that members should know if you're going to sit there and talk crap about the forum when things aren't going your way.

@Electric, sounds like me years ago.
Honesty is a good thing, but like anything else, if you over do it, it sucks.
Best way to decide whether to lie or not is to do take in consider how
what you'd say would make others feel, would they rather know the truth,
and most importantly, how would you feel in every possible outcome.
Then decide what's the best way to go. Truth on its own is overrated.
