German isn't hard to learn, and I saw you managed it pretty well... too bad I won't be around to help you out..
But if you like it, stay learning it... We will talk in german when I get back ;)

Ohh, are you referring to my posts on HF?

Btw, can you answer my question? No one there did.. I asked if it's okay if I say "Ich kann Schwedisch." instead of "Ich kann Schwedisch sprechen.". I ask, 'cause in Swedish you can say like "Jag kan serbiska." - "I can (speak) Serbian." or "Jag kan engelska." - "I can (speak) English." It can even go as far as like, "Kan du det engelskt alfabetet?" - "Do you know the English alphabet?"

So, can I say "Ich kann Schwedisch."? Confused

Yea that is how you can say it, there are more ways to express it...
Like, "Ich verstehe Schwedisch", which means "I understand Swedish"....

You don't need to tell "sprechen", when it comes to languages, it is being assumed that you mean "sprechen"...

So yea you can say it like that...

Thanks ;D

Also, is "danke schön" only used in response to "bitte schön"? I read that somewhere, but dunno if it's true.

Well yes and no!
You can first say "bitte schön" as in giving someone something, in which s/he would respond with "danke schön"...
Or you can Thanks someone, "danke schön", where the person will respond "bitte schön" as in, No problem..

Or you can just be polite and say, "danke schön" without the "bitte schön".

Swedish is the language of Henrik Lundqvist <3

No, it wasn't pointless learning Swedish. It will ease your learning of other European languages.

If it is so scarcely used, chances are also good that there are positions for the rarity you are. Smile

I currently only know English, but I'm learning Norwegian.

Off memory

Hei = Hi
Jeg, pronounced like Jai = I
Du = You
Er = Is, are, and Am (depends what it's said with)
Ja = Yes
Nei = No
Hva = What
Var = Was
Her = Here
Har = Has
Sok (with a special Norsk o, can't be bothered to search for one to copy) = Search
Heter = Called
Tak = Thanks, but is commonly phrased as "Tusen Tak", literal translation of that is "Thousand thanks", but it sounds kinda stupid in English
Ikke = Not
Liker = Like
Hater = Hate
Edag (not sure if that's how it's spelled) = Today
Favoritter = Favourite
Hadebra = Bye, pounced like ha-de-bra, but is commonly shorted/slanged to Hade

Only been learning 2 weeks or so though, an I haven't really been putting much resources into it, just listened to a sound track from the pirate bay a few times, an talk to a Norwegian guy on my MSN (99% time in English).
