Is windows 7 just as fast as XP

I may upgrade to Windows 7 on my new laptop.

Im thinking about doing it, but i just put XP over Vista and ive never bin happier with the speed of my laptop.

Not sure i wana risk another installing another os on this laptop, will just get a new laptop in a few months that will have Windows 7 allready on

What OS are you upgrading from? If you are coming from XP you might notice a small decrease in speed. If from Vista you will be blown away by the speed.

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3200 (2.0GHz)
Chipset: Intel G965 Express
Memory: 1GB DDR2 667MHz (1 Memory Slot. Max 2GB)
Hard Drive: 160GB SATA
Video Card: Integrated Intel G965 Express (up to 358MB)
Sound Card: Realtek ALC662 High Definition Audio

Would you reccomend a good Windows 7 experience with them specs.

PS. I downgraded from Vista cause i was getting REALLY annoyed at the "Not Responding" pages all the friggin time, now XP is sooo much better not seen one "Not Responding" message from any pages or apps etc that i open.

Evan my internet page loading has been givin a real boost from downgrading, i can honestly say XP is the best os i used out of the whole lot ive used: 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP and vista.

If your computer ran Vista ii guarantee it to run 7 easily. THe specs for 7 are just a little higher then XP and way lower then Vista. The only issue is the video card. you MAY not be able to display 7 at it's best. What I would do if I was you is dual boot with a trial of 7 and see if you like it. If you do go ahead and buy it!

Thanks for that, yea i no my graphics card sucks big time i cant run evan run old games smoothly that have decent graphics.

Ill stick to xp for now till i get a new laptop sometime next month cause im liking the speed of xp for now, Thanks again ;)

I don't believe it. I updated from XP and 7 is as faster as XP or better ;)

Windows 7 is like a cross between xp and vista...Vista good looks and XP's performance...Microsoft really hit the nail on the head with 7 I highly recommend it.

Microsoft used users of vista as "involuntary testers" and the result is Windows 7. I said and I say Vista only improved on graphical interface
