Alright, I should be starting within the next few weeks. I'll post a thread with pictures and specs once it's finished.

Find out what kind of processor you want first, then post back so we can suggest motherboards... I love picking out motherboards. Tongue

Well I built mine and it was about $2,700 AUD for the desktop, $3,000 total with the monitor. For $1,000 dollars I would probably recommend these parts:

CPU - Intel E8500:
Great duo core processor is excellent, sitting at around 3.16Ghz, easily over clocked to 4Ghz on stock cooling.

RAM - DDR2 4GB 800MHz RAM

GPU - Foxconn 9800GT

Motherboard - Gigabyte MA790GP

Cooling - Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + Scythe Slipstream:

Not exactly needed but the cooler everything is the longer it lasts (plus it's there if you ever want to upgrade the gpu/cpu).

PSU - Silverstone Strider ST50F 500W

HDD - WD 750GB HDD

Hope this helped, gl on the rig.
Intel Core i7 920 2.67Ghz | GIGABYTE X58-UD3R | 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ | 1.5TB SEAGATE | ATI 4890x2 | Coolmaster v8 | Corsair 850W | Antec Twelve Hundred

That would be the link for tigerdirect, but I do not know if it works in the UK or not. (Substitute 'xx' for 'tt' ;])

I will be building the PC sometime this winter hopefully, so I can use some Christmas money for parts. Hopefully I will have around a 1000 dollar budget just for the computer itself, no monitor or anything else. What I wanted to ask you all is: what are your recommended builds? This is mainly to see what the SF crew likes in terms of processor cores, video cards, specific brands, etc.

Thanks in advance and hopefully this can turn into a discussion thread.

Note: I'm not asking for a complete build, just suggestions on certain parts. Thanks.

Check Newegg they always have combo deals. As far as getting a good cpu. I'd recommend an Intel i7 920 and possible a Revision D0 - OCable to 4.0+Ghz.

Do not buy the Extreme Edition, it's a waste of money.

The site www.xoxide.com has some good products for good prices. If I remember correctly they don't have processors, but stuff more like cases and fans and power supplys. I recommend checking it out!

Hanzo, your rig is so freakin badass lol. I want that paint job or stickers or whatever it is on the sides of your case. I also want to know how those GTX 295s are doing for you, since I think that might be an investment if I can one day go SLI.
