I'd suggest you Ubuntu, since i've been using only ubuntu in school, and it's kinda great.
my first choice is Backtrack 3(for obvious reasons) but that isn't up there so my next choice would be either openSUSE or Fedora(or Debian for servers)

I use Fedora because i like the stability without all the bloatware with ubuntu andi also like Yum.

I voted for Ubuntu, but Ubuntu is based on Debian, also the new Backtrack4 is Debian based.
So definately go down the debian route for me. There's tons of support aswell. |
