VPS hosting domain help

I am trying to host a website on my vps without cpanel. I have registered my nameservers, but the site still wasn't working. I talked to my registrar and they said I have to make changes to my A records. I have searched all over the place, but can't figure out to do this without cpanel. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong please help me out thanks!

You can edit your A records or register.com btw.

You can install kloxo and webmin in your server, these are free cpanel.

you need to edit your "hosts" file and add appropriate A records within "hosts".

Are you using the nameservers provided by the host? If yes, ask them a way to assign the DNS records to the domain (using an interface if possible) or ask them to do it for you. That should do it. GL

Do you have named installed in your server?, you need to add the domain DNS entries within that to get this working.
